Healthy School

At Hatfield Travis School we have achieved Healthy Schools status and are working toward achieving Gold in all aspects of the programme. We meet twice a term to evaluate our delivery and set targets for the next half term. The programme is split into 5 sections: Emotional, Health and Well Being, Healthy Eating, Personal, Social and Health Education, School Travel and Physical Education. Our focus this half term was to implement after schools activities, continue to develop the wild area and learn about the role of our new learning Mentor- Mrs J Dangerfield. We have invited parents in for lunch and are welcoming the school nurse in to talk about healthy eating and making healthy choices (year 2). We are continuing with our ‘Walk to School’ initiative and the children are being encouraged to walk to school at least once a week. As a reward they can stamp a chart, in class, and the class with the most children walking receive a trophy. We are also researching the possibility of providing bicycle/scooter storage facilities. Next half term we shall be focusing on re-introducing massage in schools and the children will have the opportunity to listen to talks from the different emergency services. We welcome any support from parents/carers.
